paying too little

Below is a quote that has stuck with me for years. I have found it true, over and over again. It is rare to get a bargain. A real bargain. When you get something of value for very little. Normally a "great deal" turns into something else as you have to buy upgrades or repairs to get the thing you purchased at a great price to work as it should have to begin with.

Here is the quote...

There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price alone are that person's lawful prey.

It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little.

When you pay too much, you lose a little money — that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do.

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot — it can't be done.

If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

— The Common Law of Business Balance, traditionally attributed to John Ruskin.

no beans

This is the same tree, one week apart.

In the top picture, it had just rained the night before. The sun came out, and there was a lot of fog and clouds still in the air.

In the second picture, the beans have been picked from the field. It appears to be a little earlier in the day, but the sun comes up earlier each day so that can play a part.

It is interesting to take pictures of the some scene and see how it changes over time. In this case a lot changed in a week.

tshirts

I'm working on a tshirt shop. I suppose as it evolves it will have other things, mugs and bags and such.

But the main thing will be wearables. Tshirts mainly.

Here is the first page (above). It only has a few products that came out of my pea sized brain.

go have a look around.

what dreams may come

She went to sleep with her eyeglasses on, perhaps to see her dreams?

that's not leadership... i have no idea what that is

How does it make any sense to be giving a vaccine to the public at the same time you are opening a clinic that treats them from the injuries received from that same vaccine? Either the vaccine is okay or it causes harm. Which is it? Find a path and take it.
You can't tell us it is okay take it and at the same time tell us it is harmful.

I like JFK Jr. Overall I think he is doing a good job.

It appears to me that we have two governments. We seem to have the Trump administration and "his people" - JFK Jr. - being one - and a bunch of others in the background that made and continue to make decisions.

Nikkor 200-500 for sale

 Nikon Nikkor 200-500

A wonderful lens. If you have seen my concert photography it was likely done with this lens.

Somehow over the years I acquired two of these. So I need to let go of one.

Let's go shoot! We will see what this thing can do.

Nikon D800 E, for Sale

Predecessor to the D850.

The D800E takes sharper pictures than its sister camera, the D800, because of a change in the internal filters. (see more below).

It takes good pictures. I tried it today. Let's go shoot and you can see what you think.

Camera only with strap

$300

The D800E uses a modified optical low-pass filter (OLPF) that cancels the filter's normal anti-aliasing effect. This allows the sensor to capture finer detail and can produce slightly sharper images than the standard D800 under suitable conditions.
