church of the living god

This is a picture of a small church in the "hallers" of West Virginia, 1973. I took the picture because the church was so small. I couldn't imagine many people getting into the building.

You can likely read the sign, but just in case, it says... Church of the Living God in the Name of Jesus Christ Welcome.

On the door is a small sign that says "Please keep door shut to keep bugs out, Thank You" and it looks like someone has stuck a note in behind this sign.

On the side of the building is a sign printed over another sign. Both seem to say the same thing which is the name of the church as outlined above.

I was in West Virginia for a summer as a Missionary for the Southern Baptist Convention. I'd worked many summers and had after school jobs etc so I'd saved enough money that I thought I could do this one summer. I'm glad I did.

I was in a little church near Logan, West Virginia (not this church). The major thing that had happened there a year or two before was the "Buffalo Creek Mining Disaster" which took many lives.
